Antique Walnut and Cherry Two-Piece Standing Desk-on-Frame

Item Details

An antique walnut and cherry two-piece standing desk-on-frame, 19th century. The dovetailed, upper section features a narrow, cherry top behind a walnut slant front with a raised lip opening to a removable, poplar organizer with ten pigeonholes. There is a strip of molding around three-quarters of the desk base and it rests on a cherry, peg-constructed stand. The stand has a straight apron with a scratchbeaded, dovetailed drawer fitted with a wooden knob and it rises on four block- and ring-turned legs joined by an H-stretcher and ending in ball feet. The underside of the poplar organizer retains an illegible inscription.
