Lipót Illencz Oil Painting

Item Details

Lipót Illencz (1882–1950)
Oil painting on canvas
Signed to the lower right

The oil depicted here is a fine example of Illencz’s illustrative work, depicting a picknicking woman and farmer in a field. The very fitting Arts & Crafts frame echoes the early 20th century softness of the work itself.

Illencz was a Hungarian born painter who trained at the Munich School, though he did not adopt the dark, often moody brushwork emblematic of that school.

- scratches and wear to the edges of the frame; additional wear and scratches to the face of the frame; craquelure throughout the surface of the canvas; chipping to the edges of the canvas; to the verso, staining and wear to the canvas.

- measurements of frame; measurements of visible image 32.25" W x 26.75" H.
