Lyndon B. Johnson Presidential Memorabilia with Anti-LBJ Satirical
A collection of Lyndon B. Johnson presidential memorabilia with anti-LBJ satirical. With his leadership on civil rights but also the deeper engagement in the Vietnam War, Lyndon Johnson became a President increasingly beset by critics and protests, an expression often finding humor and satire as a venue. A collection of four pieces of Lyndon B. Johnson memorabilia. This collection includes a cardboard cutout hanger depicting President Johnson’s face part of a “Pop Art” series of celebrities made in the late 1960s, an LBJ figurine in a ten-gallon hat from his 1964 presidential campaign, and a light blue pin reading “Lady Bird, Lady Bird, Fly Away,” referring to First Lady Lady Bird Johnson worn by southerners angered by her call for civil rights. Also included is the published script of the satirical play entitled Mac Bird! by Barbara Garson, envisioning Johnson in a Shakespearean setting, controversial in its associating him with the Kennedy assassination, with a quote from Johnson to the back cover.
