First Edition, Signed "Crazy Horse" by Mari Sandoz

A signed copy of Crazy Horse, The Strange Man of the Oglalas by Mari Sandoz (1896-1966). This first edition, second printing features a personal inscription and small landscape drawing by the author, dated June 8th, 1944, to the front free endpaper. This work was published in 1944 by Alfred A. Knopf, of New York, is bound in board and retains it’s original dust jacket. Includes The Great Council (Cottonwood Press, 1982) a paperback excerpt of letters written by Sandoz that describe a 3,000 mile trip she took, with Elinor Hinman, that provided background material for Crazy Horse.
