An antique linsey-woolsey blue and white coverlet, likely from the Pennsylvania Dutch. The item comes from a Scottish-English tradition, and is handmade from a strong, coarse material with a cotton warp and a woolen weft. (See link for additional information on weaving this type of bedding.) This piece is in indigo blue and white, and dates to the Colonial period of U.S. history and would have been woven on a floor loom.
