Early 19th-Century Oil Painting on Paper Portrait of a Man
An early 19th-century oil painting on paper portrait of a man dated 1836. A wealthy man is depicted with prominent sideburns, soft eyes and pursed lips. His orange vest and white cravat go nicely with his navy tailcoat. To the verso is a deteriorating piece of paper signed by the artist, dated June 1836 and labeled Boulogne-sur-Mer (France). Presented under domed glass with a brass frame liner, housed in a black lacquered wood frame.
