George Howell Gay Watercolor Seascape
A watercolor painting on paper of a seascape, by listed marine landscape artist George Howell Gay (1858-1931). This atmospheric piece depicts a view of crashing turquoise waves backed by an overcast sky. Scattered white gulls and gray silhouettes of ships can be seen along the horizon of the work. This painting is signed ‘Geo. Howell Gay’ to the lower left, and is presented under glass in a distressed pale green frame with an off-white textile liner and wire for hanging.
