Ricardo Morin Oil Painting on Linen Quadtych "Teratological Topographies Series One"

Item Details

An oil painting on linen quadtych titled Teratological Topographies Series One by contemporary artist Ricardo Morin (Venezuela/New York; b. 1954), dated 2009. The work is comprised of four canvases that each depict an abstract scene with swaths of wood-patterned dark shaped on fields of white. Various light applications of oranges, blues, and violets add color to each scene. To the lower right corner of each, the works are signed and dated by the artist in red ink. To the verso, each piece is marked with the title and its number in the sequence. The items are presented without a frame or hanging wire but each piece has eye screws to the verso.

Morin immigrated to the United States from Venezuela in 1972. Based in New York and New Jersey, Morin received his B.F.A. from the State University of New York at Buffalo and his M.F.A. at Yale University. His work has been exhibited at multiple institutions including the Bronx Museum of the Arts; the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo, New York; the Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts in Brooklyn, New York; and many others. He is most well-known for his non-objective abstract paintings that exhibit a combination of linear delineation and fluidity. For more information about the artist, see the link below.
