Antique Hand Thrown and Glazed Pennsylvania Redware Bowl
A hand thrown and glazed Pennsylvania redware bowl. The bowl is made of traditional Pennsylvania German redware with hand-applied yellow slip decoration applied loosely to the upper interior rim area over predominant terracotta tonalities, having a semi-matte sheen. It has a thick, rolled rim and the exterior and foot of the bowl are left unglazed. Unmarked.
- drying cracks present throughout the bowl; the crack is a naturally occurring event in the pottery process and does not deteriorate from the integrity or usability of the bowl; visible glaze drops and dripping from slip trailing technique on the exterior of the bowl.
