Daikichi Sugimoto Hand Thrown Stoneware Fermentation Vessel
A late 20th-century hand thrown stoneware fermentation vessel by highly regarded artist Sugimoto Tatsuo (Japanese, b. 1940) of Kyoto’s Daikichi, made with a buff stoneware clay and having three-quarter glaze in a pale green to the body. It has a narrow mouth and very slightly formed pouring lip, with a metal fermentation device affixed at the shoulder. To the underside are two impressed maker’s marks; a double circle mark and the maker’s seal.
