A Dutch, 18th-century style, mahogany and marquetry inlaid, fall-front desk, decorated with a butterfly, flowering vines, ribbon borders and urn motifs. The slant lid opens to a fitted interior with a center prospect door, flanked on either side by three stepped drawers and two additional small drawers, all featuring intricate inlays. Below are three bombé drawers with cast brass pulls and ornate escutcheons, over a carved apron with portrait medallion, also found on the cast brass pulls. The case rests on carved claw-and-ball feet. Circa 1880.
