William Samuel Horton Oil on Canvas "Chateu De Blonay"

An impressionist style oil painting on board titled Chateu de Blonay by American listed artist William Samuel Horton (1865-1936). Signed by the artist to the lower left corner, housed in a wood frame with gesso embellishments in a gilt finish. There is a ‘W.S Horton Estate’ stamp present to the verso.

Within pastel tonalities, the piece depicts a watercourse situated amongst green fields and defoliated trees, situated contiguous to the medieval castle of Blonay, located in the Swiss Riviera.

Horton (1865 – 1936) was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan and is known for his impressionist coastal scenes, landscape and still life oil paintings.

- minor abrasion to frame.
