Oil on canvas harbor scene by well-known Cincinnati Impressionist Charles S. Kaelin (American, 1858-1929). A view of Rockport harbor, signed in the lower left, with several exhibition labels on verso. Housed in a period-style frame.
Charles Saelis Kaelin was a Cincinnati trained artist who became best known for his impressionist paintings of Rockport and Gloucester, where many Cincinnati artists summered. Kaelin began his career as a lithographer for Strobridge in Cincinnati, and progressively became more reclusive late in life as he focused on oils.
