His father, also a talented artist, encouraged Fabe at the age of seven to pursue his passion. As a notable young artist, Fabe graduated from Withrow High School and received a two year scholarship to attend the Art Academy of Cincinnati. In the late 1930s, he received a scholarship to the Art Student’s League in New York City. Soon after, he was drafted into the United States Army, where he served for five years. Discharged in 1958, Fabe began teaching at the University of Cincinnati in the College of Design, Art, Architecture and Planning where he stayed until 1987.
