The set commemorates the Buffalo Nickels of the early 20th Century in conjuncture with the upcoming opening of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian with a silver dollar which features a right facing Native American to the obverse and left facing American Buffalo to the reverse. The replica 1899 silver certificate features a right facing Native American male in Plains style headdress to the obverse. Designer: James Earle Fraser. Mintage: 227,131. Metal content: 90% Silver, 10% copper. Diameter: 38.1mm. Weight: approximately 26.7 grams. Presented in the original U.S. Mint box which is 9.75″ × 0.5″ × 5’. The coins are uncirculated and are encapsulated.
