Jim Shores resides in Rome, Georgia where he turns found objects into folk art sculptures, assemblages and environmental art. He has had no formal art training, instead finding inspiration from his childhood. His parents ran a garage that serviced garbage trucks, where he became fascinated with the thrown away objects. His childhood toys are another major influence, and he credits Mr. Potato Head with inspiring the faces he makes today. Shores began taking his art making seriously after his fortieth birthday, and after receiving positive feedback from galleries, has been working as an artist full time since 1996.
