Eric “Erikus Maximus” Cunningham is a self-taught mixed media artist who credits Southern Appalachian themes, heritage, and customs as major influences and components of his work. Cunningham has been creating art since he could first draw; however, he is especially known for his mixed media compositions consisting of found objects and recycled materials such as plywood, bottle caps, license plates, and electronic components, among other discarded media. His work has been exhibited in multiple galleries and was featured in Margaret Day Allen’s book When The Spirit Speaks: Self Taught Art Of The South (2015).
